Pull all the way forward in front of the garage and leave about five feet from the car ahead. The shop is located on the other side of the house — walk past the front door when you arrive.

When you arrive, walk past the front door. The shop is on the other side of the house — that is where class will be held for the duration.

What to Bring

Classroom Prep

Bring anything that makes your learning experience easier.

Post-it notes, highlighters, or a notebook
Drinks, snacks, food, or a cooler — you are welcome to bring whatever you need
Your own K-Cups if you prefer — a Keurig will be available
Lunch or plan to grab something in Waynesboro (up the road, multiple options)

A snack bar will be available — proceeds go directly to the instructor's children. Cards accepted.

We will break for 45 minutes or complete a working lunch based on class consensus.

If you have a food allergy that would require a 911 call, please notify the instructor in advance.

Firearm Safety Rule: DO NOT bring your firearm into the building loaded. The action must be open when you bring it in.

Pass Criteria — Initial

70% or better — 35 or more shots inside the 9-inch center circle

"Inside" does not include breaking the ring. A shot must be fully inside the ring to count.

Pass Criteria — Renewal

Renewals: 70% or higher with 25 shots

Instructor's commitment: Do not let the qualification criteria intimidate you. The instructor will work with every student to reach the required level before the range session ends.

05Legal Transport

Transporting Your Firearm

Please transport your firearms legally on the way to class. Maryland law governs how firearms must be transported in a vehicle. If you have any questions about legal transport, contact the instructor before class — the last thing anyone wants is a legal issue on the way to obtaining a carry permit.

06Print Before Class

Required Forms

Print, sign, and/or initial the documents below and have them ready to submit at the start of class.

Prohibiting Factors Acknowledgment

Review and sign before class. Your answer to question one should be "no" — if it is not, contact the instructor immediately.

Class Registration & Liability Waiver

Complete all fields and bring the signed copy to class.

Can't print? Contact us at 240-769-8618 — forms can be completed at the start of class, but arriving with them signed saves time.

07After Class

Maryland State Police Licensing Portal

After completing your class and receiving your certificate, you will apply for your Maryland Wear and Carry Permit through the MSP Licensing Portal. The instructor will walk you through the process during class.

FAQ

What if I don't own a handgun?

Contact us before class. As a licensed FFL dealer, the instructor can provide a firearm for your qualification. Just give advance notice so it can be arranged.

What if I don't have ammunition?

The instructor does not stock ammunition for sale, so plan to bring your own. 100+ rounds of FMJ for initial candidates, 25 rounds for renewals. Contact us if you need guidance on sourcing ammo locally.

What if I fail the qualification?

You get a second attempt using your remaining ammunition. The instructor will work with every student individually to reach the required standard. No one is left behind.

Can I bring a guest or family member?

Contact us in advance to discuss. Space is limited and class dynamics are managed for the best learning environment.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing appropriate for both a classroom and outdoor range environment. Closed-toe shoes are required on the range. Avoid low-cut necklines — hot brass finds a way.

Is there a restroom available?

Yes, facilities are available on-site.

What happens after I pass the class?

You will receive a certificate of completion and a pass rating to apply for your Maryland Wear and Carry Permit through the Maryland State Police Licensing Portal.
